The Vodacom Bulls have locked down one of South Africa’s most promising backline players on a long-term deal from next season.
A star performer for the Bulls in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship, the versatile Canan Moodie has extended his contract with the Pretoria outfit until 2027.
The 19-year-old, who is able to play across the back three, showed maturity beyond his years as he scored four tries in his debut URC season, and started in the Bulls’ 18-13 final defeat by the Stormers in Cape Town.

He suffered a jaw injury in the grand final and, as a result, missed the Junior Springboks’ U20 Six Nations Summer Series win in Italy.
Moodie’s contract extension comes on the back of renewals for flyhalves Johan Goosen (2026) and Morne Steyn (2023), centre Cornal Hendricks (2024), prop Jan-Hendrik Wessels (2024), lock Ruan Nortje (2025), scrumhalf Keagan Johannes (2026), prop Mornay Smith (2026) and loose forward Elrigh Louw (2027).
