One of English rugby’s all-time greats is reportedly set to join a new-look England coaching team for the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
According to Ruck.co.uk, Jonny Wilkinson, who earned 97 Test caps (91 for England and six for the British & Irish Lions) and scored 1, 246 points in his 14-year international career, will take up a short-term deal as part of a backroom staff led by former teammate Steve Borthwick.
Richard Cockerill has taken over in the interim following the sacking of Australian Eddie Jones.

Wilkinson, whose match-winning drop goal helped the Roses to their first and only World Cup victory in 2003, is expected to work with the likes of Owen Farrell and Marcus Smith as a specialist kicking coach.
It is understood that the England RFU had to fend off competition from France for Wilkinson’s services, the former Toulon star having been linked with a similar arrangement with Les Bleus in August ahead of their home World Cup next year.
