It's still early days in the competition, which makes things so hard – though the million bucks is a great incentive – and I'm not going to pretend I'm going to be able to get all 15 finishing positions correct and carry home the cash.
But what I can offer is advice. And it's free! From what I've seen in the opening rounds, these are my brief thoughts. As they say, use them or lose them, but I hope it helps for you to narrow down your selections and hopefully pocket that million.
In the South African conference, it has to be the Sharks. They've won their first two matches comfortably and their immediate future gives them the opportunity to win a couple more and build more momentum. They'll easily top the South African conference but they're good enough this season to top the overall log as well. I'd have them as chart-toppers.
Elsewhere, the Waratahs and Reds will fight it out for the Australian conference, in that order, while in New Zealand it will be the Crusaders and the Chiefs, in that order.
At the bottom, the Lions have shown enough in their first two matches, against the odds, to suggest that they could get away from the wooden spoon, but they won't finish higher than 13th.
