Kwagga Smith will start for the Springboks against France after Jasper Wiese failed to recover from a concussion in time to play in Marseille on Saturday.
Wiese was named to start against the Six Nations champions, retaining his place in the starting XV despite suffering a concussion in the loss to Ireland in Dublin.
However, the No 8 was not present at the Springbok team photograph on Friday morning, a clear indication that he has been ruled out of the match.
Instead, it appears that Smith, who came off the bench against Ireland, will start at No 8.
