Fijian Drua will stage six home matches and Moana Pasifika will play a first Super Rugby Pacific match on home soil, as organisers push for next year’s competition to make a bigger imprint in the Pacific Islands.
World Rugby chairman Bill Beaumont joined Jeff Wilson, Sir John Kirwan and Mils Muliaina on Sky Sports New Zealand’s ‘The Breakdown’, to discuss plans around Test rugby being played later this year before also supporting New Zealand Rugby’s plans to involve the Pacific Islands in a refreshed Super Rugby competition.
A bid to set up a Super Rugby team from the Pacific Islands has been turned down.
