Sunwolves smash Reds

The Sunwolves celebrate a try. Sunwolves smash Reds
Published on May 12, 2018 | Leave a response

The Sunwolves got their first win of the season in style as they scored six tries to thrash a poor Reds side 63-28 in Tokyo on Saturday.

Sunwolves left wing Hosea Saumaki scored a second-half hat-trick, while flyhalf Hayden Parker scored a try, seven penalties and five conversions for a personal haul of 36 points.

The Reds led 14-9 after 22 minutes, thanks to tries from hooker Brandon Paenga-Amosa and scrumhalf Ben Lucas, while Parker kicked three penalties for the Sunwolves in response.

However, it was all Sunwolves from then on. South African lock Grant Hattingh and Parker crossed before the break to give them a 29-14 lead.

Saumaki then scored tries in the 54th, 78th and 81st minutes of the match for his hat-trick, with the hosts also being awarded a penalty try in the 69th.

The Reds scored two second-half tries, through No 8 Angus Scott-Young and right-wing Filipo Daugunu, but they proved scant consolation for the humiliated Australians.
