All of the South African teams maintained their winning form on home soil in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship over the weekend, with the Vodacom Bulls, Sharks and Stormers picking up bonus-point victories.
The Stormers scored six tries in a 40-3 bonus-point win over Cardiff on Sunday at Cape Town Stadium, John Dobson’s men leapfrogging the Bulls into seventh spot.
The Bulls, now eighth in URC, ran roughshod over Scarlets at Loftus Versfeld on Friday, scoring nine tries in a one-sided 57-12 victory. But it’s the Sharks who are the best positioned of the SA teams on the table, the Durbanites now in sixth after a 38-6 triumph over Zebre on Saturday at Kings Park.
The 13th-placed Lions are also slowly starting to climb the log, following their shock 23-21 win over Irish heavyweights Munster, with Ivan van Rooyen’s charges hoping to make it three on the trot when Ospreys visit Ellis Park on Friday.
The Sharks and Stormers won’t have it any easier on Saturday, as they welcome front-runners Edinburgh and Ulster, respectively, while the Bulls will relish their clash with 14th-placed Dragons on the Highveld.
