Juan Smith is set to complete an extraordinary return to Test rugby after being called up to a Springbok training camp in August, according to Toulon.
The French club announced that Smith, Bakkies Botha and Bryan Habana have been selected to attend the camp.
Smith, who won the European Cup and Top 14 titles with Toulon last season, has been rejuvenated in France after taking an indefinite break from the sport back in 2012 due to a persistent battle with an Achilles injury.
The loose forward had four surgeries to correct the problem but was forced to retire in February 2013 after struggling in his comeback match for the Cheetahs. But Smith signed with Toulon in September last year to great surprise and has been in outstanding form for them.
Smith played the last of his 69 Tests against England at Twickenham in November 2010.
