Springbok World Cup-winners Makazole Mapimpi and Lukhanyo Am will both start for the Barbarians against Brazil in Sao Paulo on Thursday morning.

Mapimpi, who continued his try-scoring exploits with a brace against Fiji at Twickenham last weekend, gets another start on the left wing, while Am comes into the starting XV at outside centre.

Former Bok scrumhalf Jano Vermaak will join the pair as a starter, while three more Boks in the form of Tendai Mtawarira, Marco van Staden and Dillyn Leyds are set to feature from the bench.

England defence coach John Mitchell takes over from Eddie Jones as coach for the historic encounter against Brazil, after Jones’ squad lost by two points against an understrength Fijian side.

Brazil will become the 24th international team the Barbarians have faced. The invitational side play Wayne Pivac’s Wales in their final fixture in Cardiff on 30 November.

The side will be led by utility forward Tyler Ardron, who captained Canada at the World Cup.
