Wandisile Simelane has said his goodbyes to the Lions as the centre prepares to complete his move to a rival South African Vodacom United Rugby Championship team.
The 24-year-old is reportedly set to be announced as the Vodacom Bulls’ latest signing soon, becoming the next high-profile player to move to Pretoria following Sbu Nkosi’s departure from the Sharks.

His attacking skills will be a welcome addition to the Bulls backline corps, alongside Lionel Mapoe, Cornal Hendricks and Stedman Gans.
Simelane was linked with a big-money move to Toulon earlier this year, player agent Dane Galley confirming several “options on the table” at the time.
The departure of the former SA U20 star will be a big blow for the Lions, who have already lost skipper and No 12 Burger Odendaal to English Premiership side Wasps for the 2022-23 season.
On social media on Tuesday, Simelane said that, despite his move across to their local rivals, he would always call Johannesburg home.
“It’s been an amazing 6 years,” wrote Simelane.
“Forever grateful to all the coaches, in house staff & players who’ve made this a pleasant experience. To the lions supporters thank you for always believing in us, your support was immensely appreciated.
‘Wishing the union all the best, Johannesburg will always be home.”
