Among the returning Springboks set to boost the Cell C Sharks against Glasgow Warriors this weekend, Jaden Hendrikse is hungry for Vodacom United Rugby Championship action. DYLAN JACK reports.
Fresh from starring for the Springboks in the Rugby Championship, Hendrikse is set to make his return for the Sharks when they host Glasgow in a URC clash in Durban on Saturday (4pm kick-off).
“The last time I played in the URC was in the quarter-finals,” the 22-year-old scrumhalf told media. “So, I am super excited to get on to the park this weekend for the Sharks.
“We are coming back and just want to play the way the Sharks play, fall in with the Sharks DNA. We want to have a big influence, but also fit in as smoothly as possible.”
This weekend, Bok veteran Eben Etzebeth could also make his long-awaited debut for the Sharks, after making the move from Toulon towards the end of last season.

“Eben looks very excited that he will be able to play this weekend for the Sharks,” said Hendrikse.
While the Sharks came away from the northern tour with two wins from three, their performances stuttered as they only beat Dragons by one point and had to hold on to win against Zebre in Parma.
“The main focus is on our defence,” explained Hendrikse. “We need to get our spacing and alignment right and also make our first-time tackles. We just want to keep doing what we are doing on attack. We need to be ruthless when we get inside the 22.”
Glasgow (2-2) are coming off a good home win over the Vodacom Bulls and Hendrikse is wary of falling into the trap that had the Bulls struggling in Scotland.
“Glasgow are good on transition attack. They defend very well and have a high line on defence. They wait for you to make a mistake so that they can counter-attack. It will be a good challenge this weekend.”
