Sean Everitt says there is “merit” to Sbu Nkosi’s much-speculated move to the Vodacom Bulls, but the Sharks coach insists no deal between the two sides has yet been finalised.
The Bulls are reportedly trying to sign the Springbok as a replacement for in-form wing Madosh Tambwe, who is set to take up a big-money contract with French club Bordeaux.
Sharks CEO Eduard Coetzee told TimesLIVE that the Durban side “would definitely like to keep” Nkosi, but were prepared for the “possibility he might leave”.
Speaking ahead of the Sharks’ clash with Edinburgh on Saturday, Everitt told media: “There is some merit there. [Nkosi] has been offered to go to the Bulls but nothing’s been put on paper yet and nothing’s final.
“There are negotiations that still need to happen, as Eduard Coetzee has mentioned.”
Nkosi hasn’t featured for the Sharks since their 29-7 win over Benetton in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship on 26 February.
“Sbu was never injured [but] he had health issues,” Everitt said. “He had a gastrointestinal virus, and he hasn’t recovered from that. As soon as he’s recovered, he’ll be up for selection.”
