The Sharks have confirmed the signing of Argentina flyhalf Joaquin Diaz Bonilla as one of two new players to join the team ahead of the inaugural United Rugby Championship season.
The Sharks have continued to build their squad for what is expected to be a challenging first season in the new European competition, which gets under way in September.
Bonilla, who signs on after one season at the Leicester Tigers in England, has been joined by Samoa loose forward Olajuwon Noa as new arrivals for the Durban side.
The 32-year-old Bonilla, who is currently in South Africa as part of Argentina’s Rugby Championship squad, previously played for the Jaguares between 2017 and 2020 and was a medical joker for Racing 92 during the 2019 World Cup.
Noa, 31, represents Samoa at Test level and played club rugby in Australia before the Sharks came circling.
The acquisition of the foreign international duo is part of the Sharks’ active recruitment drive, which has already seen them secure the services of former Wallaby Ben Tapuai, utility forward Gerbrandt Grobler, Griquas wing Eduan Keyter and Zimbabwean loose forward Tinotenda Mavesere.
