Rondebosch came from behind to beat rivals Bishops in one of two Cape Town schools derbies on Saturday, while St John’s claimed a big win in their derby against St Stithians.
Trailing 15-0 after a poor start to the match, Bosch used the power of their pack to drive them to a 20-15 victory in the 198th game played between the two schools, and the first since 2019.
In the other Cape derby of the weekend, Wynberg claimed a comfortable 40-15 win over SACS. The two Winelands schools also had good wins as Paarl Boys’ High beat Boland Landbou 47-22 and Paarl Gim defeated Oakdale 42-10.
In KwaZulu-Natal, Hilton were too strong for Kearsney, powering to a 52-10 win, while Northwood beat Clifton 30-14.
Further north, St John’s won their derby against St Stithians 56-9 and Pretoria Boys’ High beat St Benedict’s 29-10.
