On a day full of surprising results in schools rugby, Rondebosch Boys’ High claimed a historic win over Paarl Boys’ High, while Affies stunned Paarl Gimnasium on Saturday.
Rondebosch provided arguably the biggest turn up for the books when they beat Boishaai 21-19 in Paarl. It was their first win over these opponents since 1997 when former Springbok Gcobani Bobo captained Bosch’s first XV.
Meanwhile, in the second Premier Interschools derby of 2022, Affies came from behind to beat Paarl Gim 29-26 for a first win over the Cape side since 2012, when they were captained by current Scotland international Pierre Schoeman.
In other results, Oakdale held Grey College to a 17-17 draw – the first time the Bloemfontein giants have not beaten the Riversdale team – while Bishops and Paul Roos were locked in a thrilling 38-38 draw, and Durban High claimed a convincing 38-14 win over Maritzburg College.
