The two No 13s will have key roles to play in Saturday's derby in Bloemfontein, writes JON CARDINELLI.
Two weeks ago, Johann Sadie was the standout player for the Cheetahs in their battle with the Crusaders. The outside centre caused the Crusaders' defence all sorts of problems with his elusive running as well as his distribution.
This Saturday, Sadie will front the Stormers, the team that handed him his first opportunity in Vodacom Super Rugby. He is likely to line up against some familiar faces in midfield, namely Stormers centres Jean de Villiers and Juan de Jongh.
De Jongh has proved especially potent since returning from injury. The Stormers played with more attacking intent in their most recent game against the Lions and they will fancy their chances against what is a porous Cheetahs defence. De Jongh and company will view the Cheetahs midfield as a soft target.
However, an overly expansive approach by the Stormers could backfire. If the visitors don't get it completely right, they will provide the likes of Sadie, Willie le Roux and others with counter-attacking opportunities. And as was witnessed in their clash with the Crusaders, the Cheetahs will not hesitate to turn these chances into points.
