Another talented Japan-based SA playmaker will return home and link up with the Lions next season.
Jordan Hendrikse has shot the lights out for the Joburgers in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship, but the first-choice flyhalf should expect competition from Gianni Lombard, who has re-signed from 2022-23.
Lombard joined the Lions in 2018 from Western Province, before signing with Japanese side Red Hurricanes last year, along with former Lions teammate and Springbok pivot Elton Jantjies.

The 24-year-old, who is equally adept at fullback, also represented the Junior Springboks in 2017 and 2018.

His return to Ellis Park is good news for the Lions, who have lost several big-name players since the close of their URC campaign.
Meanwhile, wing Stean Pienaar has agreed to extend his stay until 2024, while centre Marius Louw is reportedly close to completing his move from the Sharks.
