Connacht lock Quinn Roux has been called up as injury cover to the Ireland squad for the first two games of the Six Nations.
Roux, who captained Connacht for the first time in their Champions Cup victory over Bordeaux, has come into the squad as a replacement for Tadhg Beirne, who has been ruled out with a knee injury.
The 28-year-old, who came through with Western Province, could have the chance to add to his eight caps in Ireland’s opener against England on 2 February.
Fullback Adam Byrne has also been drafted into the squad after Munster wing Andrew Conway took a knock in their Champions Cup win against the Exeter Chiefs.
Meanwhile, both fullback Rob Kearney and loosehead prop Jack McGrath will remain with Leinster to pick up some game time in the Pro14 this weekend.
