The remaining fixtures in the Rugby Championship following this Saturday’s Test between the Springboks and Argentina could reportedly be hosted by either South Africa or a European country based on renewed Covid-19 concerns in Australia and New Zealand.

The original Rugby Championship schedule had the Springboks down to face the Wallabies in two matches in Australia before facing the All Blacks in Dunedin – the 100th Test between the two nations – and Auckland.
However, New Zealand has been placed in a national lockdown and this led to expectations that all four of the Springboks’ remaining matches could be played in Perth – that option has since been made doubtful due to quarantine requirements.
One option is said to invovle relocating the matches to South Africa, where the British & Irish Lions tour was just successfully hosted behind closed doors.
However, such travel requirements would seem unlikely to be approved by New Zealand and Australia.
It’s now been reported by RugbyPass that Sanzaar are even weighing up shifting the Rugby Championship to Europe for the remainder of the competition, with double-headers potentially being planned for Paris, London, Dublin and Cardiff.

So that still leaves the question, where should the rest of the Rugby Championship be played?
Should Sanzaar continue with the Australasian leg to keep the integrity of the competition? Should they move it to South Africa, even if fans are still not allowed to attend matches? Or should they make the groundbreaking move to Europe, where capacity stadiums are allowed?
