With Eddie Jones linked with a shock return to the Wallabies, Australia coach Dave Rennie is reportedly weighing up his options as he’s “resigned to the fact” that he won’t receive a contract extension after next year’s Rugby World Cup.
It has been reported that Jones, who parted ways with the Roses with a 73% win record, is set to be approached by Rugby Australia to help the Wallabies at France 2023.
Rennie’s Wallabies, ranked ninth in the world, have 13 wins from 34 Tests, with a 36% winning average and, according to Tom Decent from Australian newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald, the Kiwi is not holding out hope he will still be at the helm post-World Cup in France.

“Dave Rennie has spoken about hoping to receive a contract extension post the World Cup. I think he’s possibly resigned to the fact that won’t be happening,” Decent said on ‘The Platform’.
“He’s, to our understanding, looking at potential options elsewhere. Rugby Australia haven’t moved on that or given any clarity as to whether they would give Rennie an extension beyond 2023.
“Dave Rennie hasn’t spoken publicly since all the Eddie Jones has happened… it would be intriguing to see his views on this.”
