A clear majority of SARugbymag.co.za readers are fed up with World Rugby’s pursuit of measures to make the game ‘safe’.
The result of a recent online poll has almost 85% of readers demanding an end to the over-sensitive approach to physicality by the sport’s ruling bodies and match officials – a view held by SA Rugby magazine editor Zelím Nel, who writes that rugby can’t be both safe and appealing to fans.
Former Springbok captain Victor Matfield has also called for rugby’s laws to be changed, after a contentious red card to lock Charlie Ewels in the crunch Six Nations clash between England and Ireland at Twickenham on Saturday.
