Rassie Erasmus has hinted that DHL Stormers starlet Sacha Mngomezulu could be taken on the end-of-year tour to Europe, but says it is up to the England-qualified youngster to decide his international future.
The 20-year-old Mngomezulu has reportedly caught the eye of Eddie Jones, with one report claiming the England coach is “planning a swoop” for the Junior Springbok skipper, who qualifies to play for the Roses through his father, radio personality Nick Feinberg.

Having made his Stormers debut in the 2021-22 Vodacom United Rugby Championship playoffs, Mngomezulu has looked settled in the top division of club rugby.
In his first start against Zebre, he was handed the kicking duties and scored 22 points, including a try, three penalties and four conversions to steer the Stormers to victory in Parma.
During a media conference on Tuesday, Erasmus said Mngomezulu’s form could have him called up to the SA A team that will face Munster and Bristol Bears in November.
“I think Sacha is in with a big chance of making the SA A side,” Erasmus said. “I think if Sacha was to play for us, he must make that SA A side and play well for us there.
“If he does qualify for both [England and SA], it is his decision. We will never try and convince somebody who wants to play for another country, to play for us.

“It must be his own decision,” added Erasmus.
“He must want to play for South Africa and he must be proud to play for the Springboks. He must be willing to fight his way to the top. When he gets his opportunity, he must take it really well.
“If he qualifies for both and he would rather represent England, I will be surprised, first of all. Secondly, it will be tough to change the guy’s mind.
“I don’t really care what Eddie has to say about it, it is about what Sacha says.”
