South Africa director of rugby Rassie Erasmus says the Springboks won’t be complaining about the criticism received following recent defeats.
Even during the British & Irish Lions series earlier this year, which the Boks famously won 2-1, a considerable amount of criticism was directed at the style of rugby played.
As the Rugby Championship has progressed, the Springboks have had to continue answering questions about their gameplan on an almost weekly basis, while criticism only increased once the South African side suffered back-to-back losses against the Wallabies before slipping to a last-gasp defeat by the All Blacks.
In the Boks’ first game against Australia, and in this past weekend’s clash with New Zealand, the match result was only decided in the final minutes, with just two points being the margin of victory.
Heading into this Saturday’s rematch against the All Blacks, the Boks’ record for the year stands at five wins and four losses.
On Tuesday, Erasmus took to Twitter to say the team would not shy away from the negativity that has accompanied the narrow defeats.
When we were winning with 2 or 3 points we were not complaining about the credit and positive comments we received, so please be sure that we understand,agree and wont complain when we get the deserved negativity when we lose with a few points!!
