Bad weather is hampering the Lions and Stormers' preparations for their Vodacom Super Rugby matches this weekend.
It has rained for five consecutive days in Gauteng, which has flooded the Lions' training field. Coach Johan Ackermann said his team, who play the Sharks in Durban on Saturday, had been unable to train for more than 30 minutes at a time and that the water-logged field increased the risk of injury.
Meanwhile, the Stormers, who face the Crusaders in Christchurch, were forced to abort their training session on Tuesday after just 20 minutes.
'It has been really cold, wet and windy here the past few days and it turned for the worse today,' said captain Jean de Villiers. 'We decided to postpone training as it was not ideal conditions to get things done. I must say it is probably some of the worst weather I have experienced in New Zealand – and it's meant to be summer here!'
