Racing 92 have parted ways with ex-All Blacks lock Ali Williams following his arrest for allegedly buying cocaine in Paris.

Williams and former Wallaby James O’Connor were taken into custody by policemen from the Anti-Crime Brigade after they’d allegedly been spotted giving €200 to two drug dealers outside a nightclub at 3am on Saturday night.

Williams, who reportedly threw three packets of cocaine on the ground at the time of the pair’s arrest, played alongside the troubled O’Connor at Toulon before he retired in 2015. The 26-year-old O’Connor still plays for the club.

Following his retirement, Williams joined Racing as a media advisor at Dan Carter’s request, but the club announced on Saturday that they have suspended the 35-year-old’s services.

‘A member of Racing 92 is at the heart of an investigation into the possession of cocaine,’ the club said in a statement. ‘It was decided to suspend Ali Williams. If the investigation confirmed the possession of cocaine and the transaction, it would not only be against the law, but also a serious breach of our ethics.

‘We want to assure our partners, and our supporters of our total determination to uphold our values, and we apologise to all club and sport lovers for the disorder caused, and thank them for their loyalty.’

Toulon are yet to comment on O’Connor’s involvement in the incident.
