While no official statement has been made on his exit, it is understood that Proudfoot has been in talks over the Maties top job for some time.
Rapport also suggests that the 50-year-old approached the Vodacom Bulls about a possible position.
Proudfoot, a former Scotland prop and DHL Stormers assistant coach, was part of Rassie Erasmus’ backroom staff during the Boks’ successful 2019 World Cup campaign.
