Kings speedster Sergeal Petersen hopes to play against the Cheetahs in the Super Rugby warm-up match on Saturday in PE.
The 19-year-old, who scored two tries against the Force in the Kings’ first Super Rugby game of 2013, was sidelined for most of last season with injury, but was in active training on Monday.
Petersen has undeniable speed and talent for his age, yet no Super Rugby franchise has moved to pick up the Grey High School old boy.
The Stormers are in desperate need of specialised wingers after the departure of Bryan Habana (Toulon) and Gerhard van den Heever (Munster), and following the injury to Cheslin Kolbe, it's surprising that the Cape franchise didn’t pursue the youngster.
The Kings will play the Cheetahs this Saturday, the Lions (1 February) and Stormers (7 February) at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in PE.
