A round up of what some of South Africa’s leading Sunday papers are saying, including some good news for the Blitzboks and Neil Powell.

Sunday newspaper Rapport brings some positive news for the Blitzboks as they report that coach Powell could stay with the side until the next Sevens World Cup. According to the report by Leighton Koopman, Powell has been assured that he will stay in his position as head coach until 2022 – while there are talks that his entire coaching staff could also be kept on as well.

Staying with Rapport and the newspaper carries a few transfer rumours, the first involving Johan Goosen. In an interview with Owen Kok, Goosen reaffirmed his commitment to Montpellier – where he still has a year-long contract – but admitted that he was missing his farm in the Free State while in lockdown in France and had chatted with former teammate Frans Steyn – who recently sealed a return to South Africa with the Cheetahs.

In other transfer rumours – it appears that Cheetahs wing Anthony Volmink could be set for a stint with the Sharks during the Currie Cup as the Durban franchise is on the lookout for replacements for Lwazi Mvovo and JP Pietersen. Meanwhile, the Kings could experience a player influx as they have been linked with moves for Sharks scrumhalf Cameron Wright, Vodacom Bulls players Franco Naude and Wiehahn Herbst as well as Glasgow Warriors flyhalf Brandon Thomson.
