All Blacks icon Richie McCaw has named his all-time Test lineup, which includes just one Springbok and 10 New Zealanders.
Selecting his best of the best for Ruck.co.uk, McCaw’s dream team includes multiple fellow World Cup winners and former World Player of the Year winners.
A 2007 World Cup hero and Bok loose-forward wrecking ball Schalk Burger packs down in the loose trio with legendary Wallabies fetcher George Smith and Englishman Richard Hill.
Commenting on Burger’s inclusion, McCaw said: “You can come up against another tough team but never feel like you have had a tough match against your opposite.
“But with Burger you knew where they are going to be and how hard they play near the ball.”
Former Ireland and British & Irish Lions skipper Paul O’Connell and Kiwi Brodie Retallick slot into the second row, with a surprise selection of England flyhalf supremo Jonny Wilkinson combining with All Blacks icon Ma’a Nonu in midfield.
Kiwis Christian Cullen, Julian Savea and Jonah Lomu are set to demolish defences as an explosive back three, with Dan Carter and Aaron Smith calling the shots at halfback, while Tony Woodcock, Dane Coles and Olo Brown scrum down in the front row.
