The Vodacom Bulls are reportedly set to lose in-form winger Madosh Tambwe, but are trying to sign Springbok speedster Sbu Nkosi as a replacement.
According to Sunday newspaper Rapport, Tambwe will be released early from his Bulls contract to take up a big-money contract with French club Bordeaux before July.
The Bulls were in talks to extend the 24-year-old’s contract, which originally ran until 2023, before Bordeaux came in with an offer.
Earlier this week, news broke that the Sharks’ Nkosi could move north to join the Bulls, where it was speculated that the Bok flyer could be paired with Tambwe and Kurt-Lee Arendse in a dangerous back three.
However, it appears now that if Nkosi does sign for the Pretoria outfit, it will be to replace Tambwe, who only joined the Bulls from the Sharks last year after a challenging period in Durban, where he was in and out of the team.
This year, he has been in sensational form for the Bulls, scoring four tries in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship, and recently beating 13 defenders in the win over Irish club Munster at Loftus Versfeld.
Despite his form, Tambwe is reportedly not eligible for Bok selection as he was born in the Congo and does not have a South African passport.
