The in-form Andre Esterhuizen is reportedly set for a Springbok recall for the three-Test series against Wales in July.
According to Rapport, the 28-year-old met with Jacques Nienaber as part of the Bok coach’s alignment camps for overseas-based players.
It is understood that if the Boks succeed in winning the first two Tests against Wales in SA, the likes of Esterhuizen will feature in the final match in Cape Town on 16 July.
The Harlequins centre earned the last of his eight caps in 2019 against Argentina, with Frans Steyn and Damian Willemse the preferred backups to incumbent No 12 Damian de Allende.
He was also suspended for six weeks ahead of the 2021 British & Irish Lions series, with travel restrictions further hampering his selection prospects.
Nicknamed ‘The Giant’, Esterhuizen is now firmly back on the Bok radar thanks to his standout performances for Quins, for whom his physicality on attack and defence have proved invaluable this season.
