Damian de Allende could soon be back playing in South Africa following confirmation of the Springbok’s departure from Munster at the end of the season.
The ex-Stormers centre was linked with a move to Bath in the English Premiership, but he and his Irish employers have poured cold water on those reports, as well as a potential switch to another club in Europe.
De Allende has previously played in Japan and this is the most likely landing spot for the 30-year-old, but reports have also mooted him as a possible signing for the Sharks, while it is believed he would be most interested in a return to the Stormers.
“It has been confirmed that Damian de Allende will depart Munster Rugby at the end of the season with the centre joining a club outside of Europe,” Munster said on Twitter.
Speaking to Irish media, De Allende said that he would look to move to a club outside Europe: “I’m not staying, but it hasn’t been confirmed where I’m going. I’m not staying in Europe, so I’m definitely not going to Bath. I haven’t spoken to anyone at Bath.
“I really want to leave Munster with great memories I’ve made already, but some silverware as well.”
