Ian McIntosh has paid tribute to former Natal and Springbok prop Lood Muller, who died in a car accident this week.
Muller played two Tests for the Boks upon readmission in 1992, against the All Blacks at Ellis Park and the Wallabies at Newlands, and 90 matches for Natal.
He also represented Pietermaritzburg Police Rugby Club, Natal Schools and Natal U20.
‘Lood was an extremely modest person and a tremendously strong tighthead,’ said MacIntosh, the former Natal and Springbok coach. ‘He always punched way above his weight and together with his good friend Rudi Visagie lining up behind him in the scrum, they were a force to be reckoned with.
‘Just before the 1990 Currie Cup final, he sadly got injured and missed out on playing that match as a result.
‘He will be remembered as a gentleman of the game.’
