Monty, Money Man bring joy to Junaid

Percy Montgomery presented Junaid Arendse and his family with a cheque for R30,250 that will go towards the five-year-old's specialist cancer treatment.

The Money Man, SARugbymag.co.za's betting guru, was given R5,000 at the beginning of the Vodacom Super Rugby season and increased it six-fold by betting on selected matches.

He chose to donate the money to Junaid, who has stage four neuroblastoma, a type of cancer created from immature nerve cells, which can originate anywhere in the body.

The Money Man's cheque was handed over by Montgomery, the former Springbok fullback who played 102 Tests for the Boks and was part of the 2007 World Cup-winning team.

Junaid's cancer was diagnosed in May last year, and while he underwent 16 sessions of chemotherapy at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, the treatment he received was no longer sufficient.

The Money Man's donation will go towards Junaid's topotecan treatment, an expensive medication not available at any local public hospital.

Junaid also received two remote-controlled cars from The Money Man.
