Manie Libbok has his fingers crossed his red-hot form for the Stormers will earn him a maiden Springbok call-up.
Libbok, who is the leading points-scorer in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship, was speaking to Sunday newspaper Rapport in a wide-ranging interview which also touched on his Bok ambitions.
Since bursting onto the scene with the Junior Springboks, Libbok’s career has had its ups and downs, and the former Sharks and Vodacom Bulls flyhalf joined the Stormers in 2021 as the Capetonians looked to boost their depth at No 10.
Backed as the first-choice pivot by coach John Dobson this season, the 24-year-old has grown in confidence spearheading the Stormers’ march towards the URC playoffs.
His standout performances have been more noticeable given the lack of legitimate challengers to Bok incumbent Handre Pollard in 2022.

“At the moment I am doing well on the field. I have a coach who gives me the opportunity to play a few games in a row in the flyhalf position,” Libbok told Rapport.
“I always know I can compete at flyhalf for the Springbok jersey. I will wait patiently for my chance.
“At the moment I am concentrating on the knockout matches in the URC and my Stormers team.
“I focus on the current. In other words, to give the best for my union. I believe in taking everything step by step.
“Of course I have been dreaming of playing for the Boks since I was a child. That’s still the case. But as I say, if I continue to work hard and be consistent, the opportunity will hopefully come naturally to play for the Boks.”
