Three tries from Sakoyisa Makata helped the Blitzboks brush aside Kenya to make it two wins on the trot in Pool A at the Singapore Sevens on Saturday.
Having taken a commanding 19-0 lead into the break, South Africa increased their advantage when Makata dove over in the corner to complete his first hat-trick for the Blitzboks. Ronald Brown added the extras.
Alvin Marube pulled one back for Kenya at the death but Neil Powell’s men held on for a 26-5 victory, to add to their 31-5 triumph over Canada earlier on Saturday.
Makata opened the scoring after a solid buildup from the kick-off, followed by Selvyn Davids, who sliced through, before Makata bagged a second – all in three minutes.
SA’s last pool match is against the USA at 1:33pm.
