Marius Louw will make his Lions debut in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship opener against the Vodacom Bulls in Johannesburg on Saturday.
Lock Reinhard Nothnagel will captain a Lions team featuring the return of fullback Andries Coetzee, while inside centre Louw will make his first official start in the red jersey, having joined from the Sharks.
Louw forms an exciting midfield partnership with youngster Henco van Wyk, while Coetzee is joined in the back three by Edwill van der Merwe and Quan Horn.
The Lions pack has a youthful feel to it, as No 8 Francke Horn forms the back row with Ruhan Straeuli and Sibusiso Sangweni.
19-year-old Ruan Venter joins Nothnagel in the second row, while hooker PJ Botha is flanked by the experience of Sti Sithole and Ruan Dreyer.
Giaani Lombard could make his first appearance since rejoining the Lions from Japan and there is a potential debut for Zander du Plessis.
