Pat Lambie could be back for the Sharks' match against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on 5 July.
The flyhalf would therefore also be available for his side's last regular-season game against the Stormers at Newlands, and the play-offs.
Lambie suffered a torn bicep against the Bulls in round six and was expected to miss the rest of the Super Rugby season.
However, according to Sharks director of rugby Jake White, Lambie may return to the field sooner than expected.
'We could have four or five games with Patrick back [if the Sharks reach the final], so that is good news indeed,' White told The Mercury. 'It was a massive loss when he got injured so early in the season because so much of our game plan was invested in him making the calls.'
The Sharks have also lost back-up flyhalf Fred Zeilinga to injury with Tim Swiel starting at 10 against the Cheetahs last weekend.
