Marika Koriobete has called on his teammates to “bring the brutality” when the Wallabies host the All Blacks in the first Bledisloe Cup Test in Melbourne on Thursday.
The Wallabies will look to their first step to claiming the Bledisloe Cup for the first time since 2002 when they welcome New Zealand to Melbourne in a unique Thursday kick-off in the Rugby Championship.
The All Blacks have had a dominant 20-year run in the annual competition between the two nations, but have recently suffered historic home losses to Ireland and Argentina, giving Australia hope of finally getting their hands on the cup.
“It’s just more brutality,” Wallabies wing Koroibete said when asked about the key to beating New Zealand.
“Just contest on the ruck. Everyone across the park needs to bring that physicality, dominate the tackle and test their ruck.
“Just bring aggression on Thursday. That’s what they don’t want. That’s what the South Africans and Argies [Argentina] did to them when they won. That’s what we need to bring.”
Koroibete could play his 50th Test match for the Wallabies and has been in career-best form, having switched codes from rugby league in 2017.
“It took me a couple of years to learn the game and to make the transition,” he said.
“I’ve just been learning from different coaches.
“Learning from some of the players as well around me, how they play the game in the same position as well. They help me develop as a player.”
