Kobus Wiese’s Perfect XV

Andre Joubert Joubert fullbacks
Published on June 3, 2022 | Leave a response

Former Springbok and Lions (Transvaal) lock Kobus Wiese picks a dream team made up of those he played with and against during his 12-year career.

15 ANDRE JOUBERT
The Rolls-Royce! He had great vision, hands and pace. His attacking and finishing abilities were world class.

14 DAVID CAMPESE
Campo was very quick, an X-factor player and a great playmaker.

13 DANIE GERBER
In his prime, he was one of the best centres in the world and one any wing would love to have on his inside.

12 FRANK BUNCE
A great distributer who was strong with ball in hand. Also a great defender.

11 JONAH LOMU
Big, strong and fast.

10 NAAS BOTHA
Mr Boot! He had the ability to change the outcome of a game.

9 JOOST VAN DER WESTHUIZEN
Simply put, one of the best scrumhalves ever.

8 ZINZAN BROOKE
An intelligent No 8 playmaker, who had a great ability to read the game.

7 RUBEN KRUGER
The silent assassin. A true team man and one of the toughest players I knew. I would go to war with him.

6 MICHAEL JONES
An exceptionally gifted loose forward with pace, skills and an excellent work rate.

5 JOHN EALES (c)
A great lineout forward, good captain and true team player.

4 MARTIN JOHNSON
The backbone of a great England pack. He was physical and did the basics very well.

3 OLO BROWN
A mountain at tighthead, Olo was also a great carrier of the ball.

2 ULI SCHMIDT
Besides doing all the basics well, he had pace and was not called ‘Uli the Bully’ for nothing.

1 OS DU RANDT
Big, strong, mobile and skilful.
