Jerónimo de la Fuente scored two tries to boost the Jaguares to a 22-8 win over the Reds in Buenos Aires on Saturday.
The Argentine side remains unbeaten at home in 2017. The match against the Reds on Saturday marked their first Super Rugby encounter against Australian opposition.
The Reds were dealt a double blow early in the contest. Eto Nabuli and Kane Douglas were shown yellow cards in quick succession, and so for as many as nine minutes, the visitors were reduced to 13 men.
The Jaguares made their numerical advantage count. De la Fuente and Ramiro Moyano crossed the line, while Juan Martín Hernández added a conversion during this period.
A penalty by Jake McIntyre was cancelled out when Hernández slotted a three-pointer shortly before the break. The Jaguares went to half-time with a significant 15-3 lead.
De La Fuente scored his second try in the 49th minute. The Reds, however, replied through Scott Higginbotham to remain in the contest.
Felipe Ezcurra was shown a yellow card in the 61st minute for an intentional knock down. The Reds enjoyed several opportunities to score while the Jaguares had a man in the bin, but failed to make a single one count.
The Jaguares hung on for the win, but could not claim the try-scoring bonus point.
