Prop Jamie Bhatti has withdrawn from the Scotland squad ahead of this weekend’s Six Nations opener against England because of injury, Scottish Rugby announced on Monday.
The Glasgow player received treatment shortly after coming off the bench in his side’s win over Connacht this past Saturday and has been replaced by Allan Dell of London Irish.
“Gutted to be out injured so close to the tournament,” Bhatti wrote on Twitter. “All the best to everyone playing.”
Wingers Duhan van der Merwe and Kyle Rowe have joined up with Townsend’s men ahead of the Murrayfield match on Saturday after missing the start of the training camp through illness.
Sean Maitland has returned to Saracens after being called up in their absence last week.
Scotland rugby chiefs also announced that Josh Bayliss would continue his recovery from a concussion at Bath.
