Former Lions flyhalf Lionel Cronje kicked two penalties in the Brumbies’ 15-11 loss to the Highlanders in their first Super Rugby warm-up match of 2014.
Cronjé, who was recruited by last year’s finalists, was the primary goal-kicker in Queenstown, but didn’t get too many chances to show his talents.
The Highlanders opened the scoring with an early penalty, before Cronjé responded with two of his own. Brumbies lock Sam Carter then scored a try to make it 11-9 at half-time.
But the Highlanders kicked two penalties in the second half to get their pre-season campaign off to a good start.
