Former Brumbies winger turned Ireland star Mack Hansen has had a dig at the Wallabies in the build up to his maiden Test against the country of his birth.

“They can’t sledge for s**t,” Hansen told reporters in Ireland. “[Nic] Whitey will be chirpy like always but the rest of them aren’t very witty or smart.”
Hansen, born in Canberra, left the Brumbies in early 2021 to pursue his career in Connacht and has had “no thoughts of backtracking at all. I’m very happy where I am.”
When asked whether he was excited by the prospect of facing his country of birth, Hansen responded: “I’m just going to take it like any other game. If I buy into the story too much … and try and make myself bigger than the game, that’s when things are just going to go wrong.”
Hansen, recently nominated for World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year, will be going up against several of his former teammates.

“I’m fantastic mates with all the Brumbies lads. I grew up with Lachy Lonergan and Nick Frost was my roommate back home,” he said. “That’s obviously going to be a pretty funny one but then there are other guys like Tom Wright, all the forwards, all the ‘Usos’ in the team.
“It’s about going to war on the field and then afterwards just being able to have a laugh about it and be able to enjoy a quiet beer or two.”
