The Kings look unlikely to secure the services of scrumhalf James Hall for Super Rugby.
Hall was expected to be the Kings' first-choice scrumhalf this season, but it now appears that he will not return from French club Oyonnax.
'At this point in time, it does not seem that James is coming back,' coach Deon Davids told the Herald.
'So we are looking to recruit a more senior player into his position and hopefully we will have more news within the next few weeks. We have got some players in mind, but I do not want to speculate on that now.'
Ricky Schroeder, Johan Steyn and Rudi van Rooyen are the other scrumhalves available to the Kings.
