Former Springboks Bryan Habana and John Smit were among those to pay tribute to Morne Steyn after he announced his retirement from Test rugby on Tuesday.
Steyn told SuperSport.com that he has opted to head into Test retirement following the recently concluded Rugby Championship.
It brings down the curtain on an illustrious 68-Test career, highlighted by Steyn unforgettably slotting the series-winning kick against the British & Irish Lions in both 2009 and 2021.
The veteran flyhalf will now continue to turn out for the Bulls, but a desire to be closer to home and family ultimately swayed his decision to call time on his Test career.
Former Springbok captain Smit, who was on the field when Steyn made his remarkable debut against the Lions in 2009, hailed the flyhalf.
Congrats @mornesteyn on an incredible career boykie!!! You made choosing posts pretty easy for a captain!!!??
