Goosen vs Ebersohn

Saturday's battle in Bloemfontein will be decided by one of the two flyhalves, writes JON CARDINELLI.

Sias Ebersohn has been in outstanding form for a resurgent Western Force unit. He was especially influential in the match against the Bulls in Perth, whether he was shooting for goal, kicking from hand, or bringing his powerful outside backs into play.

Ebersohn was the best South African on show in that particular fixture, and one wonders if he can repeat the feat when he travels to the Free State Stadium this Saturday.

The Force will back their defence to stand up to the Cheetahs attack. They will also rely heavily on men like Ebersohn to win them field position, and keep the scoreboard ticking over through that accurate goal-kicking boot.

Johan Goosen will have a similar responsibility in that he will be expected to convert goal-kicking opportunities into points. However, he is a stronger attacking flyhalf than Ebersohn, and the Cheetahs will look to Goosen to unleash the likes of Johann Sadie and Willie le Roux when they go on the offensive.
