Super Rugby Pacific newcomers Moana Pasifika have made their first big-name signing in the form of an ex-Wallabies playmaker to boost the backline.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, former Wallabies flyhalf Christian Lealiifano will join the newly formed professional club for their inaugural Super Rugby season next year.
The report revealed that the Auckland-based team had beaten Lealiifano’s former employers, the Brumbies, to his signature.
Lealiifano last played for the Wallabies at the 2019 World Cup, with the last of his 26 Test caps coming in the quarter-final against England.
Since the World Cup, Lealiifano has plied his trade in Japan with NTT Communications Shining Arcs for two years, but sources said that the Auckland-born player was eager to be closer to his family.
