Strong Stormers to face Eagles

Robbie Fleck has announced a 30-man Stormers squad for their pre-season match against the SWD Eagles in George on Saturday.

It will be Fleck's first game in charge as head coach.

'Going on last year, the Eagles were great opponents and it was a game that was played at a high tempo, which is exactly what we are looking for. We have always enjoyed playing in George, especially as there are a lot of Stormers fans there,' he said.

Fleck's aim is to ensure players get enough game-time before their Super Rugby opener against rivals the Bulls, at Newlands on 27 February.

'The idea is that we need to give the majority of the players between 80 and 90 minutes before the Bulls game,' Fleck added. 'We had a defensive hit-out against UCT, we have this SWD game, followed by another defensive hit-out next week and then we have the home game against the Jaguars on 13 February.'

The match against the SWD Eagles starts at 4pm and will not be televised.
