Elton Jantjies’ wife Iva has hit out at the Springbok management team as she opened up on the saga surrounding the flyhalf.
Jantjies was on Sunday sent home from the Springboks’ base in Argentina to attend to “personal reports” amid accusations of inappropriate behaviour.
According to a report in Afrikaans weekly Rapport, the 46-Test Springbok flyhalf allegedly spent a romantic and tumultuous night with the Springboks’ team dietician.
In an interview with News24, Iva Jantjies said she was surprised by SA Rugby’s claim that no team protocols were broken.
“This is very concerning for all the Springbok wives as none of us was aware that this behaviour is actually not breaking any rules, and it’s taken so lightly,” she said.
“It’s very disappointing for a World Cup-winning management to allow situations like this to be created inside the team environment.”

Iva said she was in constant communication with Jantjies and that he would be arriving back with his family in Japan soon.
“We are speaking all the time. He is very disappointed. I think it’s also good for him to distance himself from the Bok squad and process everything,” Iva said.
She had received many messages of support, adding: “I will be forever grateful for that.”
